More education for all and stronger accountability for gender equality were among the key conclusions from Human Rights on ‘Gender Equality: Where do we Stand?’
Students of the National University’s Faculty of Law discussed with panelists persistent sexist hate speech, gender based violence and the important role of men in the fight for gender equality.
"Human rights bring un all together to create a better world, yet they are under greatest threat since the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted. Victims are dehumanized, human rights defenders are under attack for defending victims 'of the other side', International Criminal Court officials are persecuted for doing their work. This dangerous spiral must stop. On Human Rights Day, let's stand together to protect and uphold these universal values," said Diego Zorrilla, UN Resident Coordinator in Montenegro.
Recent recommendations by the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women to Montenegro were presented.
The UN Human Rights Office and UNDP organized the Talks with the Faculty of Law and the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, on the occasion of International Human Rights Day.
